The 9th Dokkan Battlet World Tournament is over, and the GLOBAL server is down for maintenance. That being said, let’s look forward at some more tips and tricks.
The topic for today is Leader Skills. Your leader is extremely important, mostly because of the affect that this character will have on your entire team. For instance, a Dokkan Awakened Super Gogeta, when set as a leader of a team, grants 3 Ki and 3000 Attack to all characters on the team. That’s insane!
But is this the best leader skill in the game? Maybe, depending on how you are determined the best. Maybe you could consider it the best overall leader skill in the game, but there are definitely times when other leader skills can be more useful.
Before we continue, take into account the fact that your leader is also a member of your team. If you use the previously mentioned Gogeta, for instance, you will want to remember that his link skills are much more Ki-based, and therefore may not be usefully if your team isn’t filled with characters with similar links.
But let’s make this simpler:
Your leader skill should represent the style of battle you plan on having. A leader that grants Ki is a great leader for battles where you don’t plan on taking much damage, or you think you can nuke your opponent down faster. You know, the strategy of using offense as a form of defense.
Fist From the Heavens Super Saiyan God Goku has one of the best leader skills in the game if you want a powerful character that grants HP and Attack. In fact, his leader skill per Dokkan Battlet states “HP & ATK increased by 20% for all Types”.
This means that every character on your team is going to have their HP and their attack increased by 20%! That’s quite amazing, especially for some of the big Boss battles and lengthy stages. What’s more is that you could bring a friend along with the same character and increase the HP and Attack of all character by an additional 20%!
Seen this guy before? This is the Dokkan Awakened version of the Kid Buu “Origin of Despair”. Originally granting +50% HP as a leader skill, once Dokkan Awakened he grants +70%! That is incredibly high. You can easily obtain an HP of over 100k! I will admit that seeing this massive amount of HP can make you feel unstoppable. But it is not without proper linking. I have often made the mistake of taking this card or the prior card simply to grant myself some additional HP.
This, in most instances, created more problems than it did help. This is because: while I was able to get massive amounts of HP, the character with no links has poor attack and not much Ki buildup potential. In fact, he ended up taking up a turn and a link that could have been extremely useful. That is, of course, due to not having a team that links well with this character.
On the other hand, if you had some characters that could link well with this extremely powerful Z-Card, you could end up with a near unstoppable team! Check out these link skills:
- Majin (ATK & DEF + 1000)
- More Than Meets the Eye (Attack + 300)
- Infinite Regeneration (Regenerate 3% HP)
- Fierce Battle (Attack +15%)
While not much Ki is to be gained, that would be a bit on the overpowered side if he was able to gain a ton of ki from links, in my opinion. Now, if you look at those link skills, you will find that next to no SSR or UR Saiyan characters, or even characters that grant ki, share any of these skills. “Fierce Battle” is shared with quite a few Saiyans, but it is a 15% attack boost, and it is only one link. Compare that to linking up to 3 and 4 times with characters and the unlikelihood of having more than a couple of these extremely rare cards.
Your Leader can determine the entire outcome of the battle
This character, when I first obtained him, even as a huge Vegeta fan I was extremely disappointed in. I find that the Gods are extremely underpowered and are next to useless, aside from the Tech God Goku and his Kamehameha. This is another topic for another time, but back to this card. In my first post, which talks about how to farm gems quickly, I mention the stage “Ending of the Body Exchange”.
The main reason for heading to this stage is to take on Pilaf since his drop rate is insanely high. But of course, in order to obtain all of your rewards you must complete the stage.
The final boss on this stage is a Captain Ginyu of Extreme INT type. Due to the rate of running this stage to farm up 777 gem, I had to do some experimenting to avoid using Sensu Beans or items to defeat Captain Ginyu. I should rephrase. I chose to experiment in an attempt to avoid using Sensu Beams or items.
I hate using items, hate it. Anyway, as we all know, PHY beats INT, and this Burning Fury Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta grants PHY characters +30% attack for every PHY Ki obtained.
His passive skill changes Rainbow Ki to PHY Ki, and basically you can launch a Super attack the second he shows up. Tack onto that the fact that there are quite a few great PHY characters to link with this Z-Card (Super Saiyan Broly, Super Saiyan 2 Gohan, Super Saiyan Bardock, to name a few). Basically, I’m trying to tell you that this Leader makes for a quick battle against Captain Ginyu.
Bring along a friend Super Goleta to grant Ki and attack damage and you can have him down in a couple of turns. All the while tanking his attacks like a boss and making off with the gem you came for in the first place!
You may find yourself keeping the same leader, no matter what
Many times we get comfortable with a leader, and simply change up the other Z-Cards on that team. This works fine if your leader simply grants Ki and you know they will link well with your team. But when you begin farming or getting into harder stages, you may want to be aware of the other options out there. Leader skills are different for a reason.
In future posts, I will break down how to defeat big shot bosses without using any Continues (aka you won’t need Dragon Stones) and little to no items.
To be more specific, I am going to be showing you how to defeat stages such as Stage 2 of “The Inimitable Fusion: Peerless Warrior’s Victory”, and “Berserker of Destruction: Awakening Beyond” with little to no items, and no Continues.
How is this possible? Yes, a big part is going to be your link skills, such as “Blazing Battle”, but a big portion will also lie in your Leader Skills. My advice? Become knowledgable on Leader Skills now.
