The Terrifying Transforming Majin is the latest Super Difficulty event in Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle, and it’s extremely tricky. Before we get started on the Dokkan Blog guide, check out this video walkthrough from my friend DJ Beta showing how to defeat Buuhan using NO Dragon Stones!
Billed as “the most dreadful Majin Buu”, stage 2 of The Terrifying Transforming Majin titled “Horrendous Majin’s Onslaught” is extremely tricky and difficult for any player, no matter what your skill level may be. There are multiple reasons why this event is so difficult, all leading up to respecting its Super difficulty that Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle has slapped on it.
For starters, The Terrifying Transforming Majin is the perfect name for the event; Buuhan (Majin Buu after absorbing Ultimate Gohan) transforms multiple times during the battle. Similar to The Unparalleled Paragon of Hope – as you survive each form, Majin Buu becomes easier and easier to deal damage to.
The problem with Buuhan, and what makes him a bit more difficult is the fact that he transforms so often and to such drastically different types that it can be very difficult to prepare for him. Especially when you considered the fact that we are pretty limited with the number of characters that have the passive Power Bestowed by God that are also worthy characters for this event.
Different players will succeed with different team comps
No two Dokkan Battle accounts are alike so it would be extremely unfair to say that you must use specific characters to defeat Buuhan in Dokkan Battle. That being said, there are definitely guidelines I recommend that you follow, and I will get to them in just a moment.
The primary thing to understand is that there are certain characters with certain link skills (such as Power Bestowed by God) that will definitely help you. I have personally had success without these characters, but I admit that it was a big more difficult.
Take a look at the team that was easiest to defeat Majin Buu with
At the time of this event, my Super Vegito’s super attack was about rank 6. It was definitely no higher than 6/10, as I just received two additional Elder Kai’s from the Universe 7 vs. Universe 6 banner. That being said – I did, in fact, make sure to bring a Super Vegito friend that had a super attack at rank 10/10.
Side note: Check the super attack of your friend by either long-pressing the portrait or tapping Switch Display at the top next to “Select Friend”.
While Dokkan Battle has informed us in a recent news posting that Super Vegito’s super attack does not increase the damage dealt from his passive Flawless Combat, a maxed out super attack is still an incredible benefit to have on your side during a Super difficulty event such as The Terrifying Transforming Majin.
Why Super Vegito? Why not a Mono-God PHY Team using LSS Broly?
I have seen some people say that they prefer to run a primarily PHY team, with Eternal Horror Legendary Super Saiyan Broly as the leader. I have tried this multiple times, and it was not successful for me, at least not without using a Dragon Stone. I may have done something wrong, and I am not saying that this will also fail for you, but this simply did not work for me.
Super Vegito is a very powerful character to bring along with your team, especially in events such as The Terrifying Transforming Majin. Here are a few reasons why:
- Super Vegito is complimented greatly by any Super Saiyan Bardock that can seal Majin Buu’s super attack. This is due to his passive Flawless Combat which counters normal attacks and attacks with tremendous damage
- Super Vegito’s super attack is extremely powerful and has excellent utility in that it increases the attack of all allies for one turn
- Having Super Vegito as your leader against Buuhan (Majin Buu) allows you to bring other AGI characters and increase their Ki, HP, ATK and DEF greatly.
So while some may be concerned with the fact that there are two forms of Majin Buu that are INT type, the first form is almost pointless to try and defeat killing. The goal here is survival. The other forms of Majin Buu that you face are STR, PHY and TECH (not necessarily in that order). This means that there is almost no specific type that will benefit you to bring. That is, of course, unless you bring a mono-God leader.
In which case, you would benefit from bringing mostly characters that are the same type as your leader. I was able to achieve 116,698 maximum HP, and between Golden Emporer Golden Frieza whose passive reduces damage taken by 80% if HP is above 50% and your other battle tactics, you will be very happy with a team comp similar to mine.
The screenshot above shows that after defeating Buuhan, I still have 1 Icarus, 2 Dende and 1 Ghost Usher
These items are extremely helpful for this event, though as you can tell I could have replaced Dende with any other item. Essentially I did not really need to use anything in Dende’s place, I just needed 2 Senzu Beans to heal me up. Between sealing Majin Buu’s super attack, the massive amounts of HP from Super Vegito as a leader and the major defense put up by two Super Vegito and a Golden Frieza, it was pretty easy to manage my HP and attacks. Ghost Usher serves as the buffer for when you know you cannot take the hit and need to avoid certain death.
I chose these items because I wanted to make sure that I was able to: heal when needed, reduce damage if the rotation didn’t work in my favor (if my Golden Frieza’s passive wasn’t going to proc or I couldn’t seal a super before he attacks), and to avoid getting hit by the first form of Buuhan without the chance to stun and/or seal him.
I will break down my exact strategy, step-by-step, for clearing Horrendous Majin’s Onslaught
So I, much like many players, have a bunch of Majin Buu characters that this event helped me Dokkan Awaken. I admit that prior to writing this post I used probably about 10 Dragon Stones before I was able to defeat him without them. This is mostly due to my impatience.
I could have simply selected “No” when asked to Continue, and come up with a better strategy. But I wanted The Terrifying Transforming Majin Majin Buu (Ultimate Gohan) awakening medals sooner rather than later. Plus, I was able to learn the stage in and out better by playing through the entire stage multiple times (even at the cost of a few Dragon Stones).
1 – Bring as many characters that you have with the link skill Power Bestowed by God
Power Bestowed by God is a fantastic link skill in Dokkan Battle that is not only an unlocking link skill in this Dokkan Festival event, but it is very powerful in general. When two characters with the link skill Power Bestowed by God are linked (next to each other), one must obtain enough ki while attacking for a super attack.
As long as one of the linked characters gets enough ki, the link skill activates and each character with the link skill gets +2500 damage. Luckily, I was able to bring Unparalleled Golden Ki Super Vegito, Exceptional Potential Ultimate Gohan, Fusion Fighter’s Attack Vegito and Unforeseen Fusion Kibito Kai – each with the link skill Power Bestowed by God.
This link skill’s primary purpose during this event is to reduce the amount in which Majin Buu heals
The third form of Majin Buu (shown above), after you’ve dealt a decent amount of damage, is where I have seen Buuhan use his healing power. The trick to stopping him from healing is to place a character directly before or after the Majin Buu with the healing symbol (also shown above), and you must activate the link skill Power Bestowed by God.
If you fail to activate this link skill here, he will basically heal himself back up to full health (it appears to be about 400,000 each time), basically negating all of the damage that you have dealt. While Buuhan gets easier to damage and does slightly less damage, this is still the best way to reduce items required and ensure that you will need no Dragon Stones to complete the stage Horrendous Majin’s Onslaught.
2 – Very Important – Bring a character that can seal the super attack of Majin Buu
In the screenshot that I showed earlier of my team composition, you will see that I bring Fist of Conviction Super Saiyan Bardock. Thankfully, he not only can seal Majin Buu’s super attack, but he is also PHY (making it easier to block the very powerful INT forms of Majin Buu).
Aside from the general benefit of sealing Majin Buu’s super attack, this allows for multiple opportunities to use Super Vegito’s counter attack ability. Considering that Majin Buu often attacks one character multiple times during turns, Super Vegito’s counter will actually be doing nearly half of the damage to Majin Buu during The Terrifying Transforming Majin.
3 – Understand and prepare for each round of The Terrifying Transforming Majin
Here is a list of the types and charges for each round of The Terrifying Transforming Majin:
- Extreme INT – 12 Charges
- Extreme STR – 12 Charges
- Extreme INT – 9 Charges
- Extreme PHY – 6 Charges
- Extreme TECH – 6 Charges
- Extreme TECH – Unlimited Charges
Round 1 – Countdown to Despair Majin Buu (Ultimate Gohan)
In this form, he is Extreme INT and has the super attack Vice Shout – Causes immense damage to enemy and lowers ATK and DEF. Pray for two things at the beginning of this round, that he is set to only attack one character and that you pull Golden Frieza. Obviously, I am suggesting you place Golden Frieza there to take advantage of the fact that you will lose little to no HP, even if he uses his super attack.
If this magical scenario does not occur, and you are forced to block without Golden Frieza (or Majin Buu plans on attacking more than one of your character), you may want to take a moment to strategize here. Typically, Majin Buu attacks 3-4 times on this turn. Assuming he will attack three times, twice at the beginning and once at the end, I would suggest that you try to anticipate which one will be a super attack.
You can, of course, shut down the app if you choose incorrectly and you end up eating a super attack on a non-PHY character or saw in hindsight an opportunity to seal his SA. This round lasts for 12 charges.
Round 2 – Majin Buu transforms into Tactics Evolved Majin Buu (Gotenks). In this form, he is Extreme STR and has the super attack Super Donut Chain – Causes extreme damage and seals Super Attack. Majin Buu stays in this form for another 12 charges but is much easier to take on, since with my guide I have suggested you bring a team that is primarily AGI. You’re welcome.
This round is where I deal the majority of my damage to Majin Buu, and where I worry the least about his attacking. If he happens to use a super attack and there is nothing that I can do about it, either Golden Frieza’s passive will proc, or I have an AGI character the to reduce the damage. Either way, you will be fine during this time.
If you manage to seal Majin Buu’s super attack, you will really inflict some serious damage with each Super Vegito that you can counter with.
Round 3 – Majin Buu transforms into Strategic Extermination Majin Buu (Piccolo). In this form, Majin Buu is Extreme INT once again, with the super attack Light Grenade – Causes extreme damage to enemy and lowers ATK. This form only lasts for 9 charges, which is three turns. This is where Majin Buu uses his healing ability.
This is where Majin Buu can heal. The key to preventing Majin Buu from healing in The Terrifying Transforming Majin is to place a character next to the attacking Majin Buu with the health symbol. Check out the screenshot I showed earlier to see how I was able to reduce Majin Buu’s health regeneration from 400,000 to 12,000.
Round 4 – Majin Buu transforms into Demonic Shriek Buu (Super). Majin Buu is now Extreme PHY, with the super attack Assault Rain – Extreme damage to enemy and lowers ATK. This is most likely where you will defeat Majin Buu and get your 7 Awakening medals from The Terrifying Transforming Majin.
While this form may cause you to ask, “Why didn’t I bring any STR characters?” The answer is simple. This form is extremely weak in comparison to the others. Even if you cannot seal his super attack and end up blocking Assault Rain with Super Vegito, you should have no problem surviving – especially considering the next attacks are normal attacks that will be very little damage (and Super Vegito will counter).
This round lasts for 6 charges.
Round 5 – Majin Buu Transforms into Ragin Dash Majin Buu (South Supreme Kai). This form is Extreme TECH, with super attack Mighty Powerful God Shockwave – Causes supreme damage to enemy and greatly lowers DEF. You may defeat Majin Buu before he reaches this form, or in many cases, this will be the form that you will defeat him in.
This round lasts for 6 charges.
Round 6 – Majin Buu transforms into Relentless Onslaught Buu (Kid). Majin Buu is now Extreme TECH type. To be honest, if you play this right you will not make it this far. But as you can see, by the time that I got to this round I had a full Dokkan Attack prepared, and he had next to no HP whatsoever.
This round has unlimited charges.
Round 6 of The Terrifying Transforming Majin, if you make it there, will be the coup de grâce.
