Major update: The Dokkan Battle World Tournament has changed drastically. Please read our updated guide by clicking here.
The 9th Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle World Tournament is here! What does this mean? It means that the level of competition is higher, the rewards are greater, and the time is limited(as always)! We only get a couple of days to compete in this tournament, and your final ranking determines your prize payout. The better your ranking, the better the rewards! But it’s not so easy to rank, as you already know. But this guide will help you totally dominate the Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle World Tournament!
Build a Strong, Diverse Team
I personally believe in focusing on a team with not just powerful characters, but also at least one character of each type. You will be forced to block often, and it will be in your best interest to be able to block to the best of your ability, taking into account each character type’s strengths and weaknesses. For example, if you are about to be attacked by a Tech character, you have an Int character ready to block.
They say that you earn more points by fighting stronger teams. They also say that you fight stronger teams depending on the strength of your team. I know that for myself, when I first began playing the game, I did not have many UR characters to use in the tournament.
I was facing many teams that were quite weak, and some of the characters on each team were not even awakened. I believe that this statement is true, as now I use only UR Awakened and higher characters, and I have yet to face a team with even one character that is not awakened. I am also earning many more points now that I have created such a strong team.
Use an Attack-All Character, if possible
If you have not heard, there is a Dokkan Awakening recently made available for Majin Vegeta. This awakening not only allows him to level up to 120, but grants him a new Super Attack. The attack is called “Final Explosion”, and is replicated from his fight against Majin Buu when he sacrificed himself in an attempt to destroy the monster.
This attack hits every character on the enemy team, so if you can, use it!
The other character with a Super Attack that is Attack-All without using Dokkan Mode is the Dokkan Awakened Legendary Super Saiyan Broly.
If you do not own either of these characters, try to grab them from your friends list.
It saves you a ton of time, and helps you rank up and earn points like lightning using a character that can take out the enemy team in one attack. And yes, their super attacks will defeat each and every character on the enemy team, every time, regardless if the enemies are of a stronger type.
When using an Attack All character, bring items that will compliment them
For instance, there is a Strength Puar that can be used to turn all Blue Spheres to Red, and a Tech Oolong that turns all Purple Spheres to Green. These are two of the 4 items I keep on hand at all times when playing the tournament. I personally own the Dokkan Awakened Majin Vegeta (Fairwell, Proud Warrior), and I seek a Broly before each round.
Here you can see that I used Oolong(TEQ) to transform Purple Spheres to Green, granting my Majin Vegeta a super attack that ends the round as soon as it is his turn to attack. Extremely helpful, and extremely easy. The same can be done with Broly.
Build a team with complimenting Link Skills
As mentioned already, I use Majin Vegeta on my team and bring along Broly when there is one available. The only guarantee for me, however, is the use of Majin Vegeta. Since the arrival of Super Goleta, few people use Broly as their leader, meaning there are few to choose from on the guest list.
What this means is that I need to have a leader and team that elevate his Ki as high as possible. This way, I need less Ki from the board and do not always rely on items to increase his Ki for a super attack.
Sadly, he is not the easiest character to link with, as his best link skill is “Over in a Flash” which grants 3 ki. Characters with that skill include: Super Gogeta(Dokkan Awakened), Fist From The Heavens God Goku (Red Hair), AGI Super Saiyan 3 Goku (Dokkan Awakened), and just a couple more. I am fortunate enough to have a couple of these characters, and the other slots I fill with diverse Types that have the link skill Golden Warrior, which grants 1 Ki and lowers the enemy’s defense.
Be aware of the best link skill for your team
Some of the best link skills for building ki, besides Over In A Flash, are going to be:
- Prepared For Battle
- Shocking Speed
- Golden Warrior
- Battlefield Diva
- Energy Absorption
- Fear and Faith
- Family Ties
- Fused Fighter
Okay you should be able to see that there are a bunch. All but one of those list above grant +2 ki, and there are many more that I did not mention. The goal is going to be to figure out if you are focusing on one character’s super, such as for the Attack All ability, or if you are going to just try and build a solid team. Before Majin Vegeta could attack all, I would traditionally use a “Prepared For Battle” team. This means that every character had this link skill, and almost every attack was a Super Attack.
Use Dragon Stones to replenish Stamina
Those who know me know that I am extremely cheap and stingy when it comes to Dragon Stones. I hate using them, and refuse to use them to continue when defeated or to replenish Stamina. For the Tournament, however, it is worse to not use Dragon Stones to replenish your stamina. They are constantly giving out Dragon Stones as you progress in the Tournament, so you will never end up spending more than you earn. That is, of course, unless you let yourself get defeated. But bringing some Sensu Beans should prevent that with ease.
